Intro Wizard — Multi-Step Intros
- Build a multi-step intro that plays before your game
- Give each step a background image and a caption
- Let players advance by click and/or on a timer
- Use a click guard to prevent accidental skips
- Edit and rebuild the intro without leaving stray scenes
Open the Intro Wizard
Open Game Settings and find the Intro section. Click Create Intro to open the wizard. If you've already built an intro, the button reads Edit Intro instead.
An intro is a short sequence of full-screen images with captions that plays before your game starts and then hands the player off into your first scene — perfect for setting up the story.
Add Your Steps
Each step is one screen of your intro. A step has two parts:
- Background — a full-screen image for that step, chosen from your game's assets.
- Caption — the text shown in a box over the image. Leave it blank for an image-only step.
Click + Add Step for each screen you want. Use the up, down, and remove controls on a step to reorder or delete it. There's no limit — three, five, however many your story needs.
How Players Advance
Choose how the intro moves from one step to the next:
- Click anywhere to advance (on by default) — the player clicks to move to the next step at their own pace.
- Auto-advance after N seconds (off by default) — each step moves on automatically after the time you set.
You can turn on both. If a player clicks before the timer runs out, the intro simply advances early — the two never conflict.
The Click Guard
When click-to-advance is on, the wizard offers a click guard: Ignore clicks for the first N seconds (default 0.5). For a brief moment after each step opens, clicks are ignored — so a leftover click (like the one that advanced the previous step) can't accidentally skip ahead.
Set it to 0 to turn the guard off and accept clicks immediately.
Where the Intro Ends
Set When finished, go to to the scene your game should open on once the intro is done. By default this is wherever your game currently starts, so the intro slips neatly in front of your existing first scene.
Build, Edit & Rebuild
Click Build Intro. The wizard creates the intro scenes, makes the first one your game's start scene, and wires up all the advancing for you. The new scenes appear at the top of your scene list named Intro, Intro 2, and so on — you can open and fine-tune them like any other scene.
To change the intro later, open Game Settings → Intro → Edit Intro, adjust your steps or options, and click Rebuild. Rebuilding cleanly replaces the previous intro — it never leaves behind orphaned scenes.
- Step 1 — a wide establishing shot with the caption "The manor had been empty for years."
- Step 2 — a close-up of a locked door with "Tonight, the door was open."
